About the Village Playhouse
The 2018 Community Dinner Dance will benefit the Village Playhouse, a small theater group associated with Inspiration Studios in West Allis. The Village Playhouse is about to begin its 39th season, themed “A Labor of Love,” which refers not only to a season of passion projects, but also the fact that the theater is entirely volunteer run. All funds brought in go right back into the next production, along with the efforts of all the volunteers who bring the productions to life. The mission of the Village Playhouse is simple: to provide a place for creativity and learning, both to its volunteers and to the community it serves.
Founded in 1978, the Village Playhouse found permanent residence in West Allis in 2013. Purchasing an old funeral home at 1500 S. 73rd St., Village Playhouse supporter Erico Ortiz transformed the building into “Inspiration Studios,” an art and gallery performance space. Although the Village Playhouse found permanent residency here, the group seeks to further establish their presence in the West Allis community. Funds raised will be used towards signage to promote the theatre group, as well as to support future productions.
